S’mores

Greer

* * *

I still can’t believe that asshole thought it was okay to grab me like that, but then he had to go and threaten all of us like a complete and total tool. And there’s not a damn thing I can do about it because I’m a liar.

That’s what kills me here. I’m hiding my relationship with the guys, and I pawned my nana’s ring. Thankfully Chelsea doesn’t know about the ring, but it’s bad enough that she knows about my relationship with the guys now. I’m so fucked.

Now it’s all about waiting for the other shoe to drop, because she’s not going to let me get away with this so easily. She’s going to make me pay for it one way or another. My sister is vindictive, and I’m not naïve enough to think she’s not biding her time and just waiting for the perfect chance to get me back for whatever wrongs she thinks I’ve caused her. Just from the top of my head, the fact that Brady chose me over her and that Nana left the ring to me top the list.

The ride back to the campsite is full of tense silence. I don’t know what the guys are thinking about, but I can’t get my mind off of my devious sister and her disgusting fiancé.

I know they deserve each other, and I don’t like my sister all that much, but I can’t help wanting more for her out of life. She’s going to be in for a whole world of hurt if she actually goes through with marrying that pig.

And to think people are going to judge me for my relationship just because it’s with more than one person when they are actually good, decent, kind men.

I’m so angry on their behalf.

“We need to wipe the floor with that asshole this weekend,” I tell the guys confidently before we get out of the Jeep. “We are not losing to that spoiled twat. I won’t have it.”

The guys laugh at me like they think I’m joking.

I’m not.

I’ve never wanted something so badly before in my whole life. That smug prick is going to get put in his place where he belongs, and I’m going to help put him there, the creep.

“Alright, Greer, we’re going to build a fire and make s’mores,” Drew says as he laces his fingers through mine. “You can’t have your first camping trip without it. It’s the law.”

I’ve never had s’mores before. I’ve had the s’mores flavored pop tarts, but that’s it.

“Sounds awesome to me,” I mumble half-heartedly, but my heart is just not in it. I’m too preoccupied with tomorrow and our precarious situation, especially if we don’t win.

Drew squeezes my hand as he pulls me over to the camping chairs set up around the fire pit.

“You sit here while we get everything set up.”

I roll my eyes as I plop down in the chair he directed me to. I could offer to help, but it’s obvious that he doesn’t want my help.
